10 of the best rooftop bars in Seville

Seville is one of the prettiest cities I've lived in, I love it not only for its history but that the Spaniards know how to have a good time. There is always an event, festival or Feria going on in town or nearby. Rooftops get a special mention because 1. It's is hot for about 8 months of the year! And 2. How could you refuse a beautiful sunset view of the infamous Gothic Cathedral and La Giralda, even after living there for over two years, I still find it stunning.

So let's get on to it:

1. La Terraza de EME - I would say this is one of the fanciest rooftops in Seville. Walk through the dimly lit foyer of this central hotel (steps away from the Cathedral) and take the lift to the fifth floor. Here you will find three different spaces in which you can enjoy the views from. Dinner is available on the roof here also, but this you should book ahead for in Summer.  From Thursday to Saturday this place gets busy with locals and tourists, the only negative about this place is that fact you need to be a hotel guest to use their pool.

Opening hours: Open 365 days a year from 12:00 - 00:00h

  • Address: C/Alemanes, 27 · 41004 · Sevilla · Spain

2. Hotel Los Seises by FonteCruz - Recently this place has become one of my favourites, located in the convoluted streets of the old Santa Cruz neighbourhood, one of the most infamous barrios of Seville well known for its Jewish, Arab and Christian history. This renovated 16th-century hotel by FonteCruz is beautiful. Head to the top floor and you will find a spacious deck with three chillout zones, full of lounge chairs, bar style tables and stools, and areas solely undercover which are perfect for those days over 35 degrees (which feel like 45+ degrees). They do have a great sized pool and they offer half day and full day sessions for those that need a soak!

4. Hotel Inglaterra - One of the oldest Terraces in Seville would have to be the one at Hotel Inglaterra. This is one of the largest rooftops and it is often booked for functions. They have a long history of live music in Seville so be sure to check out who is playing when you visit.

5. Hotel Palacio Alcazar - This terrace is located in Santa Cruz, in the Plaza de la Alianza, it boasts fantastic views of the Cathedral. The hotel used to be the home of famous painter and bullfighter John Fulton.  This is one of the only terraces in the centre of Seville that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The terrace has shaded areas for those who are wondering and they even offer a breakfast buffer for 9.80 euros per person! Make sure you make a reservation for dinner if you decide on this place because it gets busy, but the views are worth it. So whether you go for food or a drink this place is sure to please you.

6. Gourmet Experience Duque - I must admit, since arriving in Seville this is one rooftop I've frequented. Not only is the rooftop conveniently located, in Plaza de Duque, right in the centre of Seville's shopping district but offers one of the only food court options in Seville that I know.  The Gourmet Experience is the top floor of a shopping mall called El Corte de Ingles.  After the shopping centre closes you can still gain access via a door next to the main entrance facing the plaza.  On the top floor, you will find a number of restaurants, including Spanish tapas, hamburgers, Mexican (you must try their slushy margaritas!), International cuisine, cakes and ice-cream, as well as a bottle shop, gourmet supermarket and most importantly, a Puerto de Cuba Premier bar. Another reason why I like it is that you can go with a fussy eater and they are guaranteed to find something they fancy.  The terrace is semi-undercover and they offer a wide variety of music throughout the year.

  • Opening hours: 10:00 - 02:00h

  • Address: Plaza de la Victoria, 8 · 41002 · Sevilla · Spain

7. The Roof at Casa Romana Hotel Boutique - This rooftop is situated in the shopping district of the centre of Seville, nearby to Plaza de Duque.  Once on the top floor, you will find there are numerous levels to choose from to take a seat, with access to some via a staircase that may prove difficult for people who are mobility impaired.  The terrace boasts views of the Gothic Cathedral and La Giralda, as well as the Encarnacion (also known as Mushrooms or Setas) monument.

9. MariaTrifluca - One of my absolute favourite places in Sevilla right now is MariaTrifluca, built in 1922 and restored in 2016, it is fast becoming one of the places to be in Seville, the team are forever expanding. Located in the Triana neighbourhood it is on the pricier side but well worth it even if for a drink. Reserve a table on the rooftop if you are enjoying lunch or dinner or lower level patio or terrace for great views of the Triana bridge (Puente de Triana), Bullring, Guadalquivir river, Torro de Oro, Gothic Cathedral and La Giralda - the most famous landmarks Seville has to offer. Sunset here is magical and this is a place to be during Semana Santa to watch the processions.
